On the 3rd of December 2008, the International Day for Persons with
Disabilities established by the United Nations and in keeping with the UN
theme for 2008 – ‘Dignity and Justice for All of Us’ and the signing of the
Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities by Pakistan on the 25h
of September 2008, NOWPDP has planned a range of activities that aim to
celebrate the Day and mark a commitment to the cause of persons with
disabilities. Details of activities are as follows:
- 02 December, 2008: A series of workshops aimed towards capacity
development of our member/nonmember orgranisations.
- 03 December, 2008: An open forum discussion session aimed at
highlighting specific issues and concerns of organisations working for,
and with, people with disabilities, as well as identifying solutions to
bring improvements.
- 03 December, 2008: A seminar to be attended by high-ranking government
officials, members of the bureaucracy and the media, aimed at highlighting
the issues surrounding legal frameworks and benefits catering to people
with disabilities and their needs.
These events will take place on the 2nd and 3rd of December, 2008 in Karachi; and participation is open for all organisations working for,
and with, people with disabilities across Pakistan.
You can send your registration request by filling the Workshop Nomination Form and submiting the same to our office by 19th November, 2008.
Participants of the workshops will be given complementary invitation to the Open Forum and Seminar on the 3rd of December, 2008 along with
boarding and lodging facilities for representatives from member organisations. However, please note that travel expenses will not be borne by
NOWPDP. Details of programme and other facilities will be shared with you upon acceptance of your nomination by NOWPDP.
NOWPDP wants maximum participation of organisations working for, and with, people with disabilities. Together we hope to become one
voice for the nation to support the mutual cause of promoting the rights and needs of people with disabilities across Pakistan. |
