Fakhr-e-Imdad Foundation: Eye Camp at Nagar Parker

The Nagar Parkar is in southeastern Sindh, is a part of the Thar Desert adjacent to the Runn of Kutch. It is on the northern edge of the Rann of Kutch which belongs to quite a different geological series. The principal range
Karunjhar is 19 kilometers in length and attains a height of 305 meters.

Due to non-availability of resources and hard geographical situations, the population of area is mostly the poor and people are living with difficulties in all the fields, including health problems.

Blindness is associated with poverty in Sindh; particularly in rural areas, lower access to eye care services is one contributory factor to blindness.

Fakhr-e-Imdad foundation is one of those civil society organizations, who are working with the objective to reduce blindness.

Since 2007, Fakhr-e-Imdad foundation has started organizing free eye camps, for treatment and operations in different districts of Sindh, in collaboration with, Society for the prevention and cure of blindness Karachi, with voluntary support by the sincere and devoted eye specialists.

The Board of Directors of the Fakhr-e-Imdad Foundation, in its meeting held on 21st September, 2008, decided to hold 3 eye camps in remote areas, like Nagar Parkar, Digri and Sehwan Sharif.

According to the decided schedule, the team of Eye specialists with operation equipment, technicians and volunteers arrived at Nagar Parkar on 13th November, 2008, who started OPD and operations on 14th and continued till evening of 15th November, 2008.

Conclusion:
The camp ended with distribution of recognition shields awarded to the eye specialists, and supporting
organizations/persons and certificates to the volunteers
